We have shipped a number of interesting projects this week at Nuclead. Here are some examples.
We sold lead ballast to a boat racing team in Westborough, MA. Nuclead can supply all forms of Lead Ballast. Internal lead ballast can consist of many forms including lead shot, lead ingots and lead blocks ranging in size from 10 lbs and up.
Lead shot is an option for ballast requirements when space is tight. Lead shot is also excellent for trim ballast applications, keel centerboard ballast fills and lifting keel applications.
One piece internal lead keel castings are also sometimes used.
We also fabricated and shipped pure caulking lead to a plumbing distributor in Wakefield, MA. Lead caulking is used in commercial construction building applications, most commonly in the joining or sealing of cast iron soil pipes.
Lead Sheet has multiple uses, including radiation shielding, nuclear shielding, tank linings, lead flashing, sound-proofing, vibration absorbers, x-ray shielding, lead gaskets, lead ballast, lead sound proofing and corrosion resistance lining. Lead sheet is also shipped in the form of lead alloys of Tin or Antimony, in this form the lead sheet is often used for battery grids. This week Nuclead shipped lead sheet to multiple customers:
- We shipped lead sheet, from in stock inventory to an auto body shop in North Canton, OH
- Nuclead also cut and shipped multi sizes of lead sheet for a fabricator in Saco, ME; for its own value added services.
Lead sheet used as lead shielding or X-ray shielding is quite effective as long as it is thick enough. For X-ray radiation as low as 75 kV 1 mm of lead sheeting is sufficient, for x-ray radiation as high as 900 kV over 50 mm of lead sheeting is required. When used as lead soundproofing, lead sheet’s effectiveness is also dependent on thickness, approximately 4 mm of lead soundproofing will result in a quiet office.
