Nuclead is hiring! Last week we hired some new staff members!
Orders and shipments this week included lead shielding, lead weights, lead ballast, lead Babbitt and lead flashing.
Our customers for these lead products included university laboratories, yacht manufactures, government contractors to the navy, a building supply distributor, local machine tool manufacturer. We also manufactured several items for our lead products inventory.
Here are some of the details.
- We shipped a special pure lead ingot. The lead ingot was analyzed using Nuclead’s x-ray equipment to confirm that is was better than 99.99% purity for use in laboratory testing at a major university. Nuclead can supply lead ingots up to 100,000 lbs, either pure lead or lead alloys including 6% antimony lead and any percentage of alloy, of tin, zinc, bismuth and copper
- Nuclead also sold 2,500 lbs. of lead ballast to a yacht maker in the Midwest. This was shipped from stock, Nuclead has one of the largest lead products inventories in the USA.
- We are still working on our long term order for Lockheed martin for lead sound proofing materials for the Seawolf submarine program. Lead has a high surface density and is correspondingly heavy. It can provide a very effective sound barrier compared to plaster, glass, concrete or many other materials. Lead is soft and malleable. This makes it impossible to radiate sound and very difficult to be set into vibration.
- We shipped large order of lead flashing to a building supply distributer. Lead flashing is used in roofing systems to eliminate leaks at intersections and roof edges. The most common locations for lead roof flashing include Roof joints, valley flashing, chimney flashing, and roof penetrations such as lead roof jacks.
- Cast and machined lead shielding into cavity of component items from x-ray shielding. Today there are many applications that require radiation shielding to protect workers and members of the public from electromagnetic radiation in the high frequency range, radiation also known as x-ray radiation or gamma ray radiation.
- Sold genuine lead babbitt to local machine tool manufacturer. Lead babbitt is used in motor bearing applications
