Here are some of the projects we worked on this week at Nuclead and Sharp Manufacturing. If you would like to learn more about our lead products, metal products and machining and other services please give us a call at (508) 583-4080
We fabricated and shipped, lead shielding strips to a Machine shop in Saco, ME; for their in house value added services. Lead shielding makes use of the radiation shielding and attenuation properties of lead. Lead sheets can be an effective radiation shield against alpha rays, gamma rays and x-rays and to some extent lead sheeting can be effective against neutron radiation.
Lead shielding strips can be used when constructing a radiation shielding wall, as a filler between the individual lead sheets or lead sheetrock.
Nuclead also fabricated and shipped lead wire to a pediatric medical supplier in Edinboro, PA. The lead is used for its soft/flexible properties, that allow the lead wire to be bent into any shape required.
Lead wire can be supplied in diameters ranging from 0.0625 inches to 1.5 inches. Lead wire can be supplied in lengths ranging from 8 feet to 500 feet or longer by special request. It is available as pure lead or as alloyed lead wire rolls that meet ASTM B29 03 or QQ-L-177e.
Nuclead can supply Lead wire in many cases from our in house stock of lead products, which is one of the largest inventories of lead products in the USA. Lead wire not currently in stock can be quickly fabricated to your requirements using the Nuclead in house wire extrusion press.
In addition to the pediatric medical application mentioned above lead wire is used for a variety of applications such as lead anodes, lead buoy weights, and lead ballast. Lead wire is popular with the sportsman and hobbyist, being used for tying fishing flies, small casting such as lead bullet manufacture and model car racing.
