X-Ray Glass windows are designed to provide a transparent and protective shield against X-Ray radiation.
Lead Glass can be used in any facility which requires protection from x-ray radiation. Leaded glass and X-Ray glass is typically mounted into a lead lined frame built into a door or a wall. High lead content gives optimum shielding against radiation from equipment in the 100 to 300kV range.
The following industries applications are common uses for x-ray radiation lead shields:
- Viewing windows and insulating glazing for X-Ray rooms, CT scanning rooms, hospital operating rooms, mammography workstations, radiation therapy rooms and screens for medical diagnostics
- Nuclear industry applications are observation windows at radioactive storage stations, nuclear fuel development and reprocessing plants, and for applications near nuclear reactors.
- Protection windows in laboratories and material testing rooms and Lenses for safety goggles
- Protective glass for Airport Security X-ray scanners – also known as full body scanners – and protective glass for luggage scanners.
- Veterinary clinics
- Dental offices
Nuclead can provide leaded glass and X-Ray glass in a wide variety of sizes and thicknesses. Capabilities include custom fabrication of leaded glass and X-Ray glass to customer specifications, tolerances and requirements.
Nuclead has been providing stock and custom lead glass and lead acrylic for many years. For example, Nuclead shipped an order of custom lead glass, to a major “Physics & Astronomy” University. The lead was custom fabricated specifically for research environments, and was modified to meet the university’s specifications.
