Cambridge, MA November 30, 2017 – Nuclead a leading manufacturer and distributor of custom and standard lead products for research, industry and consumers announces the delivery of several recent orders for Lead Glass and orders for Lead Acrylic and Lead Doors
Lead Glass is manufactured by introducing lead oxide into the mix before the glass cools, Lead Glass is used when a clear view and radiation shielding is a requirement in medical, nuclear and government applications – applications that include medical treatment, imaging, testing, inspection, experimentation or energy production.
Lead glass, also known as X-Ray glass, is typically mounted into a lead lined frame built into a door or a wall. High lead content gives optimum shielding against radiation from equipment in the 100 to 300kV range.
Lead Acrylic is manufactured from co-polymer resin into which lead is chemically introduced
Lead Doors are standard steel or wooden doors and frames with lead shielding from .002?-.5? thickness as required, with or without lead glass windows. They are used in similar applications to those for Lead Glass and Lead Acrylic
