The Lead Wool and lead t-cap will be used for architectural restoration, additionally the lead wool will be used for propeller manufacture.
Cambridge, MA September 27, 2016 – Nuclead a leading manufacturer and distributor of custom and standard lead products for research, industry and consumers announces the delivery of several orders for lead wool and lead t-caps delivered to customers worldwide.
Lead Wool
High purity (>99.9%) lead is pulled into long thin strands and then wound together to form lead wool.
In architectural restoration lead wool is used in the caulking of waterproof joints, by hammering the wool into place over the top of Oakum, using a caulking iron. Lead wool does not need to be melted to make a good seal which is a distinct advantage.
Lead wool is also used to secure roof flashing, making a long lasting rust free leak proof joint.
Another use of lead wool is in propeller manufacture, in this case it is used as ballast to make sure that the propeller blades are balanced.
Lead Wool Shipments

- Pick and ship from in stock inventory: Lead Wool per QQ-C-40: sold to an aviation company that fabricate propellers. These customer uses the materials to balance the propellers.
Lead T-Caps
Lead T-Caps or lead weather-stripping are T cross section pieces of lead flashing that are used to fill gaps in masonry walls, windows and doors and chimneys.
Caulked joints do not typically allow for movement, but the use of T-Caps, because they are made of lead and are therefore flexible, form a cap which assures a permanent elastic seal for any masonry joint. After installation, the surface oxidizes rapidly to a neutral grey which blends with the masonry.
