West Bridgewater, MA, 1/31/22 – Nuclead Inc., a leader in lead materials and technology announces the shipment of several orders for Lead Ballast items for customers in several US locations.
Lead because of its high density and corrosion resistance is often used for ballast in sailing vessels. Lead ballast is used to provide stability and comes in many sizes and shapes depending on the specific configuration of the ship.
The Lead ballast shipments in this release are for internal ballast in various forms such as Lead Shot, Lead balls and lead ingots.
Here are some of our Lead ballast shipments
- Pick and ship Re-claimed, Range or Used Lead Shot: For Re-loading, Ballast, Re-melting or Miscellaneous, Weight. Mixed sizes, debris & grades. Delivered this scrap lead order to a woodworker’s club. The used lead was purchased for reclaimed ballast lead for their equipment.
- Ship Magnum Lead balls: 2.6 mm diameter (#7) (.100″ dia.), to a large electroplating firm this customer uses the Lead products as Lead anodes. The certified Lead materials are provided for a special aerospace process. The special Lead product is bought and used on a Quartey basis annually.
- Pick and ship Re-claimed, Range or Used Lead Shot: This lead item for sale is typically used for Re-loading, Ballast, Re-melting, or Miscellaneous Weight. It comes in mixed sizes, debris & grades. Shipped to a firm in Maryland using the lead products as Ballast weight.
- Ship tons of Magnum Lead balls: 2.6 mm diameter (#7) (.100″ dia.) to a plating house in New England. The lead product is used as lead anode materials for a special plating process per customer specifications.
- Pick and ship lead ship ballast, using pure lead, pig ingots, approx. 40#-70# each. This local marina picked up the lead for sale and will used the pure lead as lead weights of a motor vessel per coast guard requirements. Lead weights are required in many ship ballast applications because of its heavy and dense properties. Soft lead is preferred so it can mold to the bottom of the hull better, as opposed to antimony lead or hard babbitt bearing materials. Scrap lead or reclaimed lead shot can also be used but it takes many more hours to handle. In conclusion, the larger, soft lead weights are most preferred.
- Pick from Nuclead in-stock items, Pure lead Pig ingots, approx. 40#-70# ingots (Approx. size: 3.50″ x 4.00″ x 22.00″, loaf shape). Sold to a yacht yard in Maryland for sailboat ballast.
- Lead Cast tons of special Lead ballast weight per prints provided by the customer. Nuclead produced lead counterbalances all with dimensions are (+/-1/32″) for an oceanographic institute. These special lead devises will stay at 180° to the horizon as they move on the ocean floor, collecting samples for laboratory testing. This referred customer dose all sample collection and testing using their own equipment, personnel, and facilities. Nuclead shipped the lead products last week to their west-coast marina.
- Pour and ship “Nuclead” Brand, Cast Square edges Lead Brick: 2.00″ x 4.00″ x 8.00″. Sold this lead merchandise to a local marina for recreational sailboat ballast.
- Pick for a local will call Stock-Scrap Lead chips, dross, solids, reclaimed shot &/or shavings; For miscellaneous Weight, Ballast or Re-melting: Various sizes & grades.
- Pick and ship one ton of Magnum Lead balls: 2.6 mm diameter (#7) (.100″ dia.). Delivered via Nuclead trucking to a local plating house that uses the lead products as a sacrificial anode during special electroplating processes.
