Lead wire applications
Lead wire is typically supplied in diameters ranging from 0.0625” to 1.50”, with various cross-sectional profiles. It can be supplied as pure lead or as an alloy depending on the application.
Examples of Lead wire applications include:
- In the medical industry lead wire can be used in Radiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, and in pediatric medicine where it is used to make restrains for new born babies
- In aviation, lead wire is used for balance weights – typically in testing applications.
- Lead wire is also used in gas detection and thermometry equipment.
- Lead wire is used were any lead round diameter is required for fabrication purposes.
- It can be used for lead weights or when flexibility of the metal is needed.
- High purity Lead wire is used in the semiconductor industry in chemical vapor Deposition
- For the hobbyist Lead wire is used to add weight to fishing flies, for bullet manufacture and for balance weights in model car racing.
- Lead solder is often formed in to lead wire for ease of use.
