Cambridge, MA November 29, 2018 – Nuclead a leading manufacturer and distributor of custom and standard lead products for research, industry and consumers announces the delivery of several recent orders for Lead shielding and X-ray shielding products.
Nuclead supplies lead shielding and X-ray shielding in all forms for radiation protection in many applications and industries. This includes military, nuclear, and medical.
Lead shielding products can be in many forms including lead sheet, lead bricks, lead pipe, lead foil and many others. In addition, Nuclead has extensive manufacturing capabilities to fabricate custom parts and additions per your drawings and specifications, as can be seen for the orders listed in this release.
Lead Shielding Shipments
- Fabricate and ship: .010″ Lead foil with black vinyl laminated to one side and PSA with release paper on the other x 60′ long. This lead lined item is sold to a medical OEM that uses the lead foil shielding with the vinyl as protection from its technicians and equipment installers for contact with the lead. It also provides a very nice aesthetic look to their equipment.
- Fabricate and ship per customer provided blue prints; lead x-ray shielding components for a security backscatter OEM on the west coast.
- Fabricate and ship a lead shielded X-ray containment box per customer supplied blueprints and specifications. This customer fabricated shielding unit has several components and thoroughly lead lined inside with no leakage allowed. Nuclead also primed and painted the lead assembly with 100% coverage as the unit will be used in a medical environment. The smaller opening on the top allows the X-ray equipment to be placed inside the lead containment vessel and the lead x-ray glass allows the operator to see inside while collecting data with the attached electronic chassis provided by Nuclead. This lead lined containment box was shipped to a medical facility in New England.
- Fabricate and ship Lead Shielding package: Package consists of: Lead sheeting: 1/16″ x 48.00″ x 132.00″; Lead Glass: Provided for customer prep &/or assembly 24.00″ x 24.00″ x 7-8mm x 1/16″Le x 150kv and Lead window frames: HM Steel welded borrowed lite frame. Customer responsible for all prep, Hardware and assembly. Glass Size 24.00″ x 24.00″; x 4.875″ throat 1/16″ Lead lined. Sold to a general contractor in Texas; for construction of a new medical facility.
- Fabricate tooling and cast 2% antimony lead pigs for radiation protection for nuclear waste storage. Sold to a reseller who inventories and sells these items from stock; to any company needs lead shield radiation casks.
- Extrude and ship Lead pipe: 1.00″ id x 1/4″ wall x 96.00″ lg. Sold to an equipment manufacture for radiation shielding purposes.
- CNC machine to customer provided blueprints, using inventory Lead shielding, 1″ thick. Sold to a semiconductor company in California, used for radiation shielding of medical equipment.
- Pick and ship from in stock inventory: Lead screw shield(s), 1/16″. Sold to a chiropractic firm in New England. The Items were purchased after a third-party contractor forgot to order them. This customer needed them quickly and Nuclead ship them overnight.
- Pick and ship Construction materials: Lead screw shield(s), 1/16″; Sold to a national disaster restoration firm that is repair a damaged hospital in Oklahoma City and needs the lead shielding to complete the radiology department.
- Saw and ship Lead sheet: 1/4″ x 24.00″ x 39.00″; Sold to US Army / Crane Ammunition Activity in Indiana and used for radiation shielding per their request for quotation (“RFQ”). The lead sheet is solid sheeting per QQ-l-201-f Grade C.
- Fabricate lead with per customer blueprints and finish with Paint OV; IPC PO #6989; Paint with Black Durachem 235, 6-8 mils thick. Sold to a US DOE buyer to be used as lead radiation shielding.
- Fabricate and ship Lead pipe: 6.00″ id x 5/32″ wall x 61.00″ lg., Package and ship to a public utility using the lead item as lead shielding from high tension wires.
- Fabricate and ship special radiation lead brick for a laboratory in New York. The Nuclead lead brick will be used for this lead radiation shielding requirement per their specifications.
- Lead line and lead lamination a customer supplied x-ray box. The lead shielding inside the steel assembly will provide lead x-ray shielding for the scientists using the equipment for testing. Nuclead was also contracted to finish the assembly with Prime/Paint Yellow Durachem. The full assembly was shipped back complete to its customer in New England.
- Fill customer supplied metal vision equipment that creates radiation during its processes with 100% pure lead per ASTM-B29. Each cavity holds 2,000 lbs. of lead each and weights 3,000# completed & the lad is for radiation shielding. The extremely large equipment will be shipped to a national laboratory for assembly.
- Fabricate complete per customer supplied blueprints and written specifications using CNC machine tools. Lead Laminate customer supplied Hoods, per prints provided RFQ using lead radiation shielding 1/8” thick lead, At least 3/8” overlap &/or mitered joints permissible all seems to prevent leakage, using 3M Hi-Strength 90. Hood #1: Sold to a Specialized General contractor that does customer spec work for all industries. These particular units are going to be finished radiation cabinets ship to Hospital in Texas. More Hoods were quoted, and pending orders are in the pipeline.
- Lead lined: Fabricate custom x-ray shielding protection box per customer blueprints, including painting & lead x-ray glass assembly. Sold and shipped to a laboratory in New England for test elements with x-rays.
- Lead shielding turning: Fabricate complete per blueprints provided RFQ: Unless otherwise specified…Price includes all applicable labor, materials, tolerances and notes. Price to include Spray paint. Units sold and shipped to University of Virginia for experimentation on nuclear waste. These special units protect the scientist during these experiments.
- Fabricate Lead foil: 0.002″ x 6.00″ x 23 lb. lead coils. Package with end protection required to protect during shipment. Sold to University of Rochester for radiation shielding testing.
- Fabricate and ship Lead foil: 0.010″ (+/- 0.0005″) x 12.00″ x 50# per UNS L51121: and Lead foil: 0.005″ (+/- 0.0005″) x 12.00″ x 50# per UNS L51121. Sold to an OEM in the Northeast for radiation shielding for Lockheed Martin’s special packing needs.
- Fabricate and ship several component items per customer supplied blueprints. These items are fabricated complete per prints including all tolerances, materials, finishes and painting. They are to be used in backscatter x-ray equipment for the department of homeland security.
- Lead Cast “Nuclead” Brand, Cast Square edges Lead Brick: 1.00″ x 4.00″ x 8.00″. Sold to a medical imaging OEM in California that uses the lead for x-ray shielding in their equipment sold to medical facilities across the United States.
- Fabricate with CNC Milling centers, lead shielding per customer provided blueprints. Sold to a medical imaging company working on new equipment for Siemens Medical Imaging.
