Company announces several shipments of custom lead wire and custom lead solder wire to a series of customers in diverse industries.

Cambridge, MA May 12, 2014 – Nuclead a leader in the manufacture and distribution of custom and standard lead products for all applications, announces the recent delivery of several lead wire and lead solder wire orders to customers throughout the United States and Canada.

Nuclead manufactures lead wire in Standard or custom sizes 1/32″ to 3/4″ diameter in 50# spools. Diameters 3/4″-1.5″ come in 25 lb. lengths. Diameters up to 6″ can also be fabricated.

Lead solder is often manufactured in the form of lead solder wire. Lead solder is typically an alloy of Tin and lead and is also known as soft solder. Nuclead manufactures lead solder with all standard alloy mixes including the tin concentrations between 5% and 70% by weight. The greater the tin concentration, the greater the solder’s tensile and shear strengths. Alloys commonly used for electrical soldering are 60/40 Tin/lead (Sn/Pb) which melts at 370 °F or 188 °C and 63/37 Sn/Pb used principally in electrical/electronic work.

Nuclead can also supply lead free silver solder, bar solder and cake solder.

Lead wire is available in pure or alloyed lead wire rolls and meeting ASTM B29 03 or QQ-L-177e are supplied in lengths ranging from 8 feet to 500 feet (Or longer if required). Lead wire is typically supplied in diameters ranging from 0.0625” to 1.50”, with various cross-sectional profiles.

Lead wire is typically extruded, lead wire larger than ¾” is difficult to coil, and so larger lead cores are usually extruded in straight lengths. Diameters larger than 1.5” in diameter are usually cast.

Lead wire is used for a variety of applications such as lead anodes, lead buoy weights, and lead ballast. Lead wire is popular with the sportsman and hobbyist, being used for tying fishing flies, small casting such as lead bullet manufacture and model car racing. Lead wire in highly pure form is commonly used in the semiconductor industry in vapor deposition systems. They are also applications in the medical field for lead wire that takes advantage of lead’s density, radiation shielding and other properties.

Recent Lead Wire and lead Solder Shipments

In recent weeks Nuclead has fabricated and shipped several custom orders for lead wire and lead solder, here are some examples:

  • Per customer specifications we manufactured a special alloy lead solder. This was sold to a military electronics manufacturer in Los Angeles, CA
  • Nuclead also manufactured a custom lead alloy wire solder, which was sold to a general contractor in Marion, OH
  • A municipality transit system received our shipment of 40/60 lead wire solder 5# cake. They will use it for shielding purposes on electric trains that transport commuters on a daily basis.
  • Nuclead manufactured and shipped an order of 1/4″ diameter pure lead wire. This was sold to a mining and drill oiling company in Cypress, TX, for product development. Nuclead also sold lead wire sold to a mining operation for Oil Field Engineering & Consulting in Lafayette, LA
  • 11/16″ solid lead wire, which will be used for ballast at an Ivy League university rowing program, was manufactured and shipped from Nuclead’s facility.
  • 2,500 llbs of pure lead wire was sold to a pediatric trauma equipment manufacturer in Edinboro, PA. Lead wire is both soft and relatively heavy, these properties make it ideal for a product that is used immobilize premature babies while are being treated.
  • Pure lead wire was sold to a plating company in McPherson, KS to be used in the manufacture of lead anodes.

No Matter what your lead wire or lead solder needs Nuclead can meet your needs in a timely fashion.
