Cleaning up after the Blizzard of 2013. We were on the Natural Gas Back-up Generator for several hours, however the operation did not miss a beat.
This was a very busy week for Nuclead, lots of quotes and orders for lead bricks, lead ballast, lead ingots, lead foil and for radiation testing.
Radiation testing includes gamma scan inspections and gamma tests, which allow for the internal inspection of cast or machined parts, to check for defects or other flaws.
Here are some of the key items from this week at Nuclead.
- We received an order for 77,000 lbs of lead ballast for a Dutch ship – the chartered sailing yacht Parsifal III. The yacht has been in service for more than 20 years as is currently in Florida for a major refit.
- Working with Florida dock for this ballast order in order to receive booking number for our carrier to deliver next week .
- Worked on an order for radiation bricks for Brown University & shipped.
- Received an order from an Oil rigging company to fabricate thin foil coils.
- Dies are being fabricated now.
- Fabricating pure lead ingots for a commercial engine manufacture.
- Received raw materials for Seawolf submarines; for Lockheed Martin orders. for machined sound-proofing components for the Low Cost Conformal Array (LCCA)
- Received multi-item/material order from Texas A&M University, for radiation testing.
