Nuclead was closed Monday 18th in celebration of Presidents Day. Lot of activity during the rest of the week.
This was another busy week at Nuclead as we worked on a lot of smaller, local orders as well as the larger orders mentioned below. All the local orders were fabricated and delivered within the week. Remember Nuclead has one of the largest lead inventories in the USA, many orders can be shipped from stock, so if you have a need for lead products we can probably accommodate you.
Here are some of the projects we worked on last week:
- The fabrication of a lot of orders that require the large extrusion press have been completed this week. Extrusion is a process used to create objects of a fixed, cross-sectional profile. A material is pushed or drawn through a die of the desired cross-section.
- Received order for a special lead alloy order, from an Aerospace Alloy distributor. This was custom lead alloy pour, per customer documentation, not per any ASTM or MIL spec. Nuclead can create any lead alloy up to 100,000 lbs.
- Nuclead has started manufacturing the large lead foil order that was received last week. The lead foil is being delivered to an oil rigging company; the foil is used because of lead resistance to corrosion.
- Nuclead has begun work on the large lead ballast order that was received last week.
- We will be shipping the Seawolf Submarine components, for the LCCA. The LCCA is a passive planar sonar array mounted on a submarine’s aft sail structure and integrated with the Acoustic Rapid Commercial Off-The-Shelf Insertion AN/BQQ-10 sonar system. LCCA represents a significant new submarine capability that will enhance situational awareness, tactical control and collision avoidance in crowded littoral and dense shipping environments. The array will be integrated with AN/BQQ-10 sonar systems installed on Los Angeles, Seawolf and Virginia class submarine platforms.
- Received a hot, 24 hour delivery of custom lead extrusions; to a CA Municipality
